Welcome to Franklin Township is located in Somerset County in the heart of New Jersey.  We can be found between New Brunswick and Princeton or half way between New York City and Philadelphia.  Franklin's history dates back to the 1650's when it was settled by the Dutch.  In 1798 the Township was  incorporated into Somerset County and into the state of New Jersey becoming legally the Township of Franklin.

Franklin Township Municpal complex located at 475 DeMott Lane includes the Municipal Building, the Public Safety Building, the Township Library, the Animal Shelter, Community/Senior Center, and the Villagers Barn Theater.

Franklin is a diversed township in all facets. Our businesses includes Fortune 500 Companies, small and large businesses, and Farming.  Our population includes American Indian, Asian/Pacific Island, African Amercian, Caucasion, and Hispanic just to name a few.  The Franklin Township Public School system consist of 10 schools from K - 12th including our new High School which is located on Elizabeth Avenue.  We are surrounded by some of the finest colleges including Rutgers, Princeton, Raritan Valley Community College, Middlesex Community College and Seton Hall University.  Our Hospitals include some of the best in the state, including Robert Wood Johnson, St. Peters University Hospital, Somerset Medical Center and Princeton Medical Center.  For more information visit the Franklin Township web site.
