We can be found between New Brunswick and Princeton or half way between New York City and Philadelphia. Franklin's history dates back to the 1650's when it was settled by the Dutch. In 1798 the Township was incorporated into Somerset County and into the state of New Jersey becoming legally the Township of Franklin. Franklin Township Municpal complex located at 475 DeMott Lane includes the Municipal Building, the Public Safety Building, the Township Library, the Animal Shelter, Community/Senior Center, and the Villagers Barn Theater. The Franklin Township Public School system consist of 10 schools from K - 12th including our new High School which is located on Elizabeth Avenue.
